Tour Journals Volume 10: Katy Trail, Chapter 1

Intro recorded from my train ride home! Spoiler alert: I made it.

I have SO much to say about this ride. It was fun, it was exciting, it was challenging, it had downs and ups… and even a dose of drama. It was great. And for the next month, you’re coming along for the ride. Pedalshift Tour Journals Volume 10 will be serialized in at least 6 chapters throughout May and June, taking you along for my ride across Missouri. And because I don’t want to stretch things out too much, my intention is to put out two shows per week for the run of the Journal, plus mix in some non-Katy-related interviews I have in the pipeline. We’ll go back to weekly later this summer.

ALSO… there’s video, and I still need to go through it all and decide how best to show it off. Stay tuned for that. it’s below and right here.

Most of the Journal speaks for itself, but from time to time I might jump in and give some additional context on top of or around the stuff I recorded in the field.

The Katy Trail is a converted rail trail that stretches from exurban Kansas City to suburban St. Louis in the state of Missouri. On this edition of the Journal we follow along on Day 1 of the adventure as I ride from my Airbnb in Kansas City to the train station, a snippet of riding on the Rock Island spur of the Katy Trail, plus my thoughts on the ride from camp in Windsor, MO.

Day 1s can be a mixed bag… and this one was no different.

This is a ride from Lees Summit, MO to Windsor, MO using the Rock Island Spur of the Katy Trail.

Plans for the show

  • We’re doing 2 shows per week for the near future!
  • Mixing in a few non-Katy items in the run. Stay tuned!
